“When Cara was 7 years old she didn’t like to read and her handwriting was so atrocious that she
couldn’t even read it herself. She was disorganized, her room was a mess and she had so little patience that she couldn’t even perform simple tasks such as hanging up her coat,” said her mother Sara Rosengard of Haddonfield, N.J. “I would have Cara run around the house several times before she could sit and focus to get her homework done.” Mrs. Rosengard knew she needed professional
help and turned to Linda Karanzalis at ADDvantages Learning Center. In her Cherry Hill office, Linda began working with Cara to improve her processing skills. One of the first things that began to improve was Cara’s handwriting. It became so neat that her mother thought that one of her daughter’s papers was written by the teacher. “By the first week of third grade Cara’s teacher told me that she was an “awesome writer” and in the “advanced stages of editing,” said Mrs. Rosengard. “She went from being a non-reader to an avid reader. Now in the fourth grade, she can follow directions and stay focused. At home she volunteers to clean her room and help around the house. I don’t know where we would be had we not come to ADDvantages Learning Center. I don’t think I could say she
would be doing this well. I truly believe that!”
Martin de la Torre’s parents, of Cherry Hill, began having concerns about their son in kindergarten.
As he progressed through grade school they noticed that while he loved learning, he disliked
reading and struggled with organization and staying on task. Soon he began to “hate school,” and
since the de la Torres knew he was bright they began seeking help. A medical professional
referred them to Linda Karanzalis at ADDvantages Learning Center. Halfway through the program at
ADDvantages Martin entered fifth grade. Immediately his parents noticed improvement in spelling, reduced frustration with school work and consistently good test results. It was rewarding for them to hear him report that he had to stop reading one book because it was too easy. Best of all, he no longer “hated school.” “The program that Linda implemented has been very beneficial for Martin,” Mrs. de la Torre explained, “It has contributed to reduced frustration with academic efforts and we no longer fear that he will give up on school.
